Week 7: Mastitis

Oh yes, the week of Mastitis. I woke up Monday morning feeling dizzy and achy and eventually realized that I had a fever and was feeling awfully like I had the flu. Thankfully (yes, thankfully, because I am glad my babies cannot get this from me!), I also had a painful, hot lump in my right breast... which meant it wasn't the flu and just a bacterial infection in my breast. Phew! Please pray that the antibiotics won't leave me with a yeast infection! That is my biggest fear as a mom of twins who doesn't want the huge burden of getting rid of one in myself and TWO babies.

The antibiotics went to work quickly and I feel great again (which makes it hard to rest and finish recovering!). Back to our regularly scheduled program: I have to switch out newborn for 0-3 month clothing, prep the next size up cloth diapers, sun bleach the preemie cloth diapers (so I can return them to my friend!), swap out my winter/maternity clothes for spring clothes, clean my house, start cooking dinners, etc.! I love being busy, though, so this makes me happy. :)

I started switching out my winter for spring clothes yesterday and it is interesting to see how things fit... Most of the shirts will fit fine in, say, a year when I am no longer breastfeeding. But for now, my C/D cups are not really fitting my old A cup shirts/dresses. :-P My hips apparently spread like a wildfire during pregnancy and I am completely out of pants/jeans/shorts/capris/etc. except for anything with an elastic wasteband (which is two pairs of gym shorts, a couple pairs of sweatpants and maybe one pair of gym-ish capris). So sad, considering I had just stocked up on new Ann Taylor Loft pants and jeans last winter/spring (only on sale things, though)! Whoops! I have Stacy and Clinton's voices running through my head telling me to stop wearing those maternity jeans and sweatpants, so I have to get moving on new pants. (I am so afraid they are going to show up with their What Not to Wear crew on my doorstep some day!) I ordered a couple pairs of shorts from Old Navy in a few sizes up and am hoping those will get me through the summer.

The babies are getting SO cute and chubby! We got a smile from Jackson on camera, finally, and an almost smile from Bennett. I'm going to post a few of Bennett simply because when you take pictures of him, you get a different face in every shot. I took about the same number of Jackson and all except the smiling one had the same facial expression!

Also, Benny rolled over from tummy to back for the first time last Friday. Jonathan had just gotten home early from work and he got to see it - so special! I got Benny to roll over again yesterday, but mostly when you put him on his tummy he just gets mad. Jack has been SO CLOSE to rolling over a few seperate times, but just gets tired of trying too quickly. :-P

Jack's first on-camera smile!

I cannot believe how BIG they are getting!! SO CUTE! Praying you do not have to deal with thrush...it's horrible, and impossible to get rid of...we're still struggling with it and my baby is 5 months old! Glad you are feeling better and don't worry, you will be staying busy for the next 18 years, haha! :)

Wait a minute... I thought one of the perks of being a stay-at-homer was getting to wear sweats/jammies all day long?! Plus I always feel like a college sophomore studying for finals in them. LOL. I guess I just don't watch enough tv. My bad. *wink*

Precious pictures! I know what you mean about the clothes...I had one pair of jeans in each size to wear as I lost the baby weight (all 4 babies...same pairs of jeans...Max is 8 next week and Ruby is 16 months!) Needless to say I have been throwing them away as I grow "out" of them (needing the next size down). At least I was lucky??? enough to start out with wide hips so it didn't come as such a huge shock to me...my shocker was that my feet have grown a size and a half...YUCK! Glad the antibiotics are working...don't try to overdo!

I am so happy for you!!! Your babies are precious.

We don't know each other but your blog about your experience with Misoprostol (and all the other peoples experiences who commented) really helped me out when I went through my first m/c. I always direct women to that post that are looking for things to expect.

It is nice to come back here though and see that you finally have two healthy babies!
